Mid summer update

Well.... It has been a while since I visited here. So I guess I owe myself a summary of my running over the last 7 months. Starting with Indoor... I thought the indoor season went really well. I PR'd in the mile once (4:35) and the 5k on two separate occasions (15:57 and 15:43). The 15:43 placed me 8th at indoor conference and I was very pleased with it. I thought I had set myself up to run a fast 10k outdoors. Not really the case. I still PR'd (32:48) and placed 8th but I was expecting somewhere around 32:20 after the 15:43. My training wasn't the most consistent outdoors and it seemed that we really got away from threshold work once the outdoor season started.

After track ended, I ran the Fargo half marathon. It was basically a disaster from about ten miles on. I don't have splits from it but basically the wheels fell off at mile 10. I think I started running about 6:00 - 6:20 per mile from there. Either way.... not good. 1:15:00

I took a week off and then a week of just real easy running without a clock on it but about 30 minutes a day. Then a few weeks in the 50's and 60's a couple in the 70's a week around 85 and two weeks that I cut back for the Cat's Incredible half marathon. I felt a lot better about this race. I ran 1:13:35. It was nice to have Sundog toy with me for 12.5 miles before he ran away with it. I really could have used a little more quality work (tempos and some intervals) but it wasn't really my focus at the time.

I was searching for a marathon sometime this coming winter but my lower left leg has been bothering me. I haven't really been running too seriously and when I do 7:30 feels uncomfortable. I am also the assistant coach at Thompson. I train with a sophomore that has run 10:33 for 3200m. We run about 7:45 per mile which is good for me.... I am going to try and do a weekly update on my training. I don't have any races upcoming and I think racing anytime in the near future (although I do have an entry into TC10 mile again) would be frustrating and I want to figure out this leg thing before I go and get extremely motivated.

That is it for now... I think I am going to allow this 90 degree weather to drop before I go and shuffle around at 7:45 pace.
